The Old Bridge Hotel
September 2, 2021

Known far and wide for its reputation, class and incredible wine selection, The Old Bridge Hotel certainly lives up to the hype. We recently spent the evening there for dinner and a bottle of wine and it felt like we’d experienced something special.

First of all, the service at The Old Bridge Hotel is wonderful, everyone is warm, helpful and professional and you feel very well looked after. The bar and dining room are a mix of traditional and contemporary British style and give you that lovely country pub feel, but on a much grander scale.

The menu is excellent, and the staff are always ready with a recommendation if you’re torn. We started with the onion bhajis and (huge) grilled whole king prawns (we were told these could also be shelled upon request, but if not then you get a finger bowl and sneaky second napkin afterwards which was a nice little touch). We then had the classic pork belly and also the fillet of hake for main, the turmeric potatoes that it came with were a huge hit!

As much as we wanted to try all the desserts we decided to keep it light with homemade kulfi lollipops, these were simply incredible. We tried the cardamon and also the pistachio, which was both wonderful and a great lighter dessert choice.

You really can’t go wrong when enjoying a meal here, we would definitely advise on booking in advance and also don’t forget about their fantastic wine shop or even trying your hand at the wine tasting experience, not to be missed!
