This month is a catchup of events that have taken place here at Morrisons and a quick look into what is coming in the next month or so.
We have been raising funds for our charity partner Young Lives VS Cancer and here in St Ives this month we raised nearly £600 selling sweet cones, hosting a tombola and hook a duck, and also from bucket collections on our tills. Thank you to absolutely everyone who took part and helped us raise this money for a wonderful cause!
Our total in St Ives since the beginning of the partnership in 2017 is £12,000 and if you combine all the Morrisons stores together it’s a whopping £16,000,000!
So far this year over £1 million worth of food has been donated by Morrisons customers through our Pick-Up Packs. I would like to say a big thank you to our customers in St Ives for their very generous donations of Pick-Up Packs as we sell the most packs in our area! And, as the recipients of the packs, I know that our St Ives Food Bank and Helping the Homeless & People in Need in Cambs are most grateful for this as well.
Other charities that we have been fundraising for include:
Marie Curie – £125,000
NHS Charities Together through the NHS Big Tea – £250,000
And through sales of rainbow doughnuts in store, £10,000 was donated to the LGBT+ Charity AKT.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month and Young Lives VS Cancer will be hosting bucket collections outside as many Morrisons stores as possible between the 10th-19th September. We are also looking for volunteers to sign up to help us raise funds for Jacks House, the new Home from Home in Manchester. To find out more you can visit:
One last thing to look out for this September is our new Good to Grow campaign – schools will be able to get free gardening equipment just from you collecting tokens when you buy your shopping! Keep an eye out to see if your local school is taking part.
Thank you all again for your very kind donations! Until next time, stay safe!
